Donate to Veterans Memorial in Lake in the Hills

The Veterans Memorial Committee is currently raising funds to build a Veterans Memorial at the Lake in the Hills Village Hall to honor and give thanks to all the veterans and servicemen that have given of themselves to protect our country.

In August 2013, plans were unveiled at a committee of the whole meeting and elected officials gave their full support to the plan.

The village has committed $40,000 to this project and the remainder of the funding is needed through private donations, grants, and trade labor.

Donations are currently being accepted at the village hall, 600 Harvest Gate, and at both Lake in the Hills Castle Bank locations: 2100 W. Algonquin Road and 4520 W. Algonquin Road.

Additionally, the Veterans Memorial Committee has been accepting donations at their booth during various village events.

Initial designs for the memorial would feature a granite wall with five slabs, one for each branch of the military.

It also would feature the Illinois State flag, POW/MIA, and military branch flags to the right and left of a centralized American flag.

Sponsorship opportunities are listed below:

• Monument Walls (5) - $10,000 each

• Concrete walk/pathway - $5,000

• Flags (8) - $2,500 each

• Benches (4) - $2,000 each

Sponsors will be recognized for their contributions with a sign or marked paver brick near the item sponsored.
