Build a bird feeder for migratory birds at Spring Valley
Help birds energize and prepare for their long journey by building a bird feeder 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 14, at Spring Valley Nature Center, 1111 E. Schaumburg Road.
"Children will build their very own bird feeder to take home and fill with seed," said Lauren Podgorski, environment educator at Spring Valley Nature Center. "We'll look for birds during a hike and collect items to decorate the feeders."
Participants will learn which Illinois birds migrate and where they choose to spend their winters.
Visitors may see birds that migrate to Illinois during the hike.
All participants will build a bird feeder to take home. Class is for age 5 and older. Cost is $10 for residents and $15 for nonresidents. Fee is per family of four. Extra members pay at the door. Cost is $3 for residents and $4 for nonresidents.
