Dickens in Dundee brings Christmas spirit to life
The two-day Dickens in Dundee festival continued in East and West Dundee Saturday with a parade, breakfast with Santa, gingerbread house making, and arts and crafts.
At Grafelman Park in West Dundee, twins AJ and Kane Hodal, 3, of Elgin ran among trees decorated by local schoolchildren. The duo squealed with laughter when they found fun ornaments and pointed them out of their family. At Immanuel Lutheran Church in East Dundee, the Loeffler family of East Dundee decorated their own little wooden nativity scene ornaments. Going along with the nativity theme, the church had over 100 sets of Nativity scenes on display, all on loan from members of the congregation.
"We're always looking to see what we can add to Dickens to make it more appealing to local residents," said Kim Tibbetts, one of West Dundee's lead planners, said of the event.
