Magic Science Night Dec. 12 at Elgin Public Museum

A flick of a hand here, a magic word there and magicians seems to make something out of nothing! But what is magic but science used to trick our senses? Discover optical illusions, fire tricks and other "magic" as explained through science in experiments and demonstrations set up throughout the Elgin Public Museum.

This drop-in program will run from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12. It is $2 per person. The museum is located in Elgin's Lords Park at 225 Grand Blvd. No registration is required.

The Elgin Public Museum of Natural History and Anthropology has been exploring a science theme each month for the last four years. These programs are great for families with elementary aged children or simply for someone interested in putting a few new tricks up their sleeves.

The museum is currently hosting its annual Touching on Traditions exhibition. The exhibition features 18 winter holiday traditions from all over the world. Participants of the Magic Science Night can take in a little holiday magic at the same time.
