Community volunteers help Dundee Lions prepare to sell Christmas trees

The Dundee Township Lions are prepared to begin selling Christmas trees this Friday, Nov. 28, at Grafelman Park in West Dundee thanks to the community's help in unloading them. Beginning early this past Saturday community leaders, Scouts, students, police, fireman, and families joined the Lions in unloading 300 trees.

Mike Buhrmann, chairman for the Lions Christmas tree sales, says the unloading of the trees has become a long tradition in Dundee. He says: "It really demonstrates what a great community Dundee is and the kind of support that is available when you ask."

All of the profits from the sale of trees will go to support local charities. Last year, the Lions raised more than $5,000 from the tree sale to go back in the community.

This year also the Boy Scouts are partnering to help the Lions with the sales.

Lion Mike says, "When you buy a tree here you know you will get a quality tree as well as you are supporting great causes."

Trees this year are Scotch pine, Fraser fir and balsam fir with sizes from 6-10 feet and prices ranging from $26 to $86. A number of wreaths are also available for purchase as well as cedar and fir garland up to 50 feet.

Anyone from the community interested in volunteering for this important project can reach Lion Mike at (847) 204-2532.
