Tivoli's 'It's a Wonderful Life' showing benefits Sharing Connections Furniture Bank

In an event that would make George Bailey and Clarence proud, the Tivoli Theatre in Downers Grove will show "It's a Wonderful Life" to benefit the Sharing Connections Furniture Bank.

The magical town of Bedford Falls will flicker onto the screen at 1:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 13 and 14, at the theater, 5021 Highland Ave., Downers Grove. Admission is $5 per person; tickets can be purchased at the theater or online at classiccinemas.com. Audiences will hear preshow music on the Tivoli's Wurlitzer pipe organ.

Released in 1946, "It's a Wonderful Life" tells the story of George Bailey, a caring family man who has fallen on hard times and contemplates suicide on Christmas Eve. But just when he thinks all hope is lost, his guardian angel Clarence appears and takes George on a trip down memory lane. Through flashbacks, Clarence shows George how his actions have positively impacted citizens in the community of Bedford Falls. In the end, he realizes that no one is a failure who has friends.
