Share the word about volunteerism
In McHenry County, there are more than 58,000 volunteer needs met annually. It's the passion and will to give of the volunteers that keep our community running. But when's the last time you spoke about it? We all have volunteered in some way or the other. Whether it was for a food pantry or just your neighbor, you volunteer ... now talk about it!
Volunteer Center McHenry County is urging volunteers to speak up and start conversations about their efforts of spreading goodwill. Talk about your last volunteer experience ... has it lit a fire inside of you that no other opportunity has? Volunteering is not just about what you can give but what you can gain. Volunteer opportunities provide outlets for retired professionals to utilize their skills and experience and they offer emotional outlets for those who just want to provide a helping hand.
But we have to spread the word. By spreading the word about your experience, you may light a fire in someone. The community needs to hear about what you are doing ... we all need to spread the good news of volunteerism and the benefits.
