Cantigny Park appoints visitor services director

Cantigny Park, part of the Robert R. McCormick Foundation, announced the appointment of Magan Ascher as director of visitor services. The appointment was effective Nov. 3.

Ascher oversees the coordination and planning of park events including concerts, festivals, education classes and other special programming. She is also responsible for Cantigny's security operations and the park's membership and volunteer programs.

"We are very pleased that Magan accepted this key position," said Matt LaFond, Cantigny Park executive director. "Her customer service and organizational skills are well-known throughout Cantigny and just what we need to keep delivering the great experiences our visitors expect."

Ascher joined Cantigny Park in 2007 as banquet manager, and most recently served as director of catering and assistant director of food and beverage. Her scope included Cantigny Golf facilities and services in addition to those at Cantigny Park.

"I'm looking forward to leading the Visitor Services team and building on the reputation Cantigny Park enjoys as one of the region's favorite destinations," Ascher said.

"This is a special place that families visit for many different reasons and occasions. Our goal is to exceed their expectations every time."

Ascher has a bachelor's degree from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale in hotel/restaurant travel administration, with a specialization in food and nutrition.
