Reduce rat population, but keep pets safe
There are media reports that the Chicago metropolitan region has one of the highest rat populations in the country. The city, county and nearby suburbs and counties concertedly need to proactively and effectively decrease rampant rodent overpopulation. This can be humanely achieved by using products that sterilize rats with potent birth control baited in food placed in areas where they congregate. Their populations will appropriately decline and innocent dogs, cats and other creatures will no longer consume deadly poisons either.
Let's hope that government officials will have the will to safely curtail rat infestation and spare the lives of canines, felines and other critters that unknowingly eat lethal and dangerous rodent poisons. It's preferable to nonviolently reduce rat and mice infestations via sterilization instead of resorting to bloodshed and other cruel methods.
