Schaumburg Park District gets ready for winter

Discover signs of winter at Spring Valley.

Explore the woods and prairie trails to see how various plants and animals prepare for winter 10:30 a.m.-noon, Nov. 15 at Schaumburg Park District's Spring Valley, 1111 E. Schaumburg Road.

"We are going on the lookout for animal activity at Spring Valley," said Lauren Podgorski, environment educator at Spring Valley Nature Center. "Participants will go on a nature hike to see what these animals do to prepare for winter. We will see nests built by insects, animal prints and teeth marks, and different types of seeds the animals will save."

This program is for ages 3 to 7. Cost is $5 for residents and $7 for non-residents. Appropriate attire should be worn for this outdoor program.
