Grand Opening of Indoor Cycling and Yoga Studio Brings Health and Giving Back to Lake County

GURNEE, IL - The public and media are invited to the grand opening of Lake County's new indoor cycling and yoga studio, Changing Gears, on Saturday, October 25, 2014, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Saratoga Square shopping center at 5101 Washington Street. At the event, attendees can tour the studio, come dressed in active clothing to take part in class demonstrations, sign up for raffles and giveaways, receive three free classes for registering, and also meet Gurnee Mayor Kristina Kovarik.

The studio, co-owned by Gurnee residents, Dave Lev and Lisa Shultz, features indoor cycling and yoga plus a variety of group exercise classes including Boot camp and Zumba®. The facility also hosts Great Lakes Martial Arts, Aikido and Body Fat Blast by Synergized Coaching. In addition, artwork by local artists is displayed in the social gathering area. Beginning January 1, 2015, Changing Gears will also give back to the local community by making a donation for every class attended.

"I am excited to welcome a new business to Gurnee," says Mayor Kovarik. "This one is especially exciting because it is owned by local residents and fills a very important need for our community. Having fit and healthy residents is a key component of a great community."

"The experience begins when you walk in the front door," says Shultz, marathoner and one of the studio's indoor cycling instructors. "You enter a place where you can be fit, be social, become healthier, and make new friends while having fun." Lev, an Ironman® triathlete/marathon runner and also one of the indoor cycling instructors, agrees, "We wanted our studio to be different. Our main competition isn't the large national chains and 'big box' gyms. Instead, we like to say that our competition is the couch."

As Lake County's Premier Indoor Cycle and Yoga Studio, the mission of Changing Gears is to inspire movement and transformation. Drawing on decades of experience in cycle, yoga, martial arts and more, along with the newest equipment and technology, video ride-a-longs through countries like France and Italy, and a comprehensive music selection, the owners are committed to providing an innovative way for people to exercise, spend time with friends, and also find calm in a fast-paced world.
