Girls volleyball: Fox Valley roundup Thursday, Oct. 23

Huntley d. Grayslake North: The Red Raiders (22-13) took a 25-15, 25-16 Fox Valley Conference crossover win at home. Alyson Dion fired 3 aces and finished with 8 kills to lead Huntley's attack, while Erin Erb had 2 aces and 9 kills. Kelsey DeWulf added 15 assists.

Dundee-Crown d. Woodstock: Led on the court by Frankie Cavallaro, the Chargers (21-9) walked away from senior night with a 25-21, 25-18 FVC crossover victory. Cavallaro had 5 kills 7 digs and 26 assists. Emma Brant added 8 kills and 3 blocks.

Jacobs d. Hampshire: A big night by Bridget Wallenberger helped the Golden Eagles secure an easy 25-10, 25-10 FVC crossover win against the Whip-Purs. Wallenberger finished with a team-high 11 kills along with 3 aces. Paige Queffelec added 15 assists. With just 11 total kills as a team, the Whips struggled to get their offense going. Erin Foss led the team with 4 kills while Brittany Laffin had 11 assists.

Burlington Central d. Genoa-Kingston: A perfect conference season and a record setting night was all rolled up into one Big Northern East win as the Rockets (29-6, 14-0) beat Genoa-Kingston 25-9, 25-18. Aly DeTamble needed 1 ace to tie the single-season school record but came up with 5, along with 7 kills to lead the team in both categories. DeTamble now has 98 aces on the year, breaking the record of 94 previously held by Stephanie Holthus.

St. Edward d. Ridgewood: Two big wins sandwiched a close loss for the Green Wave (18-9) as they won 25-9, 24-26, 25-10 in their final regular season game of the year. Leading the attack was Dominique Washington with a team-high 11 kills and 6 aces along with 7 assists. Megan Barth also tallied 6 aces and 7 kills while Casey Gredzieleski finished with 9 assists.

Hinckley Big-Rock d. Westminster Christian: Despite a packed gym for senior night, the Warriors (6-18-2) could not give the fans a win, dropping their final home game 25-16, 25-14. Savannah Dutcher led all Warriors with 5 kills and a pair of blocks, while setter Emma Kovachevich finished with team highs in assists and digs with 6. She also added 2 kills and 2 aces.
