Why do candidates lie about Tea Party?

I am a grandmother waching my grandchildren grow. Among things I see is our religious freedoms being taken away. I can't just sit by and watch that happen.

So I attend meetings of the West Suburban Patriots whose goal is to keep the American dream alive. We support fiscal responsibility, constitutional limited government and free markets.

Why do political candidates lie about the "tea party"?
