Mount Prospect tower could be 'Tank of the Year'

Mount Prospect residents can help make the village's downtown water tower the official Tank of the Year for 2014.

The contest is being run by Tnemec, the company that supplied the paint for the water tower. The village gave the tower a new paint job this past spring and summer, in a color that's called "Clear Sky."

Now, Mount Prospect's water tower is one of about 100 freshly-painted tanks from around the country that could be named the Tank of the Year.

Residents can vote for their tank online at tnemec.com/tankoftheyear. Voting closes Friday, Oct. 17.
