Allstate hires investor to handle $10 billion

Northbrook-based Allstate Corp., the largest publicly traded U.S. home and auto insurer, hired Russell Mayerfeld to oversee $10 billion of investments, including private-equity and real estate holdings.

Mayerfeld will report to Chief Investment Officer Judith Greffin, the insurer said today in a statement distributed by PR Newswire.
