Blame humanity's dark side, not religion

This is a response to "Religion continues its path of tragedies" by James D. Cook published recently in Your Views. Mr. Cook is correct in calling attention to the "dark side of humanity." The blame comes from our human failings, not from organized religion, which preaches that we love one another under every circumstance and "do unto others as you would have them do unto you." The past performances of godless regimes like Communism under Stalin, Mao and Pol Pat and National Socialism under Adolf Hitler provide clear examples of our worst. The aforementioned all tried to destroy religion as its teachings were contrary to theirs.
