Mt. Prospect firefighters holding food drive Oct. 18

The Mount Prospect Fire Department and Mount Prospect Firefighters Local 4119 will sponsor a food drive on Saturday, Oct. 18, to help restock the village's Emergency Food Pantry for the upcoming holiday season.

Fire department vehicles and personnel will be in the parking lots in front of Costco, 999 N. Elmhurst Road, and Jewel, 333 E. Euclid Ave., from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Items such as baby diapers, canned goods, cookies, crackers, jelly, juice, macaroni and cheese, pancake mix, peanut butter and popcorn are needed. The food pantry cannot accept homemade foods or items past their expiration dates.

In addition to the food drive, the fire department is accepting food pantry donations until Dec. 6 at all three of its stations: Fire Station 12, 1601 W. Golf Road; Fire Station 13, 112 E. Northwest Highway; and Fire Station 14, 2000 E. Kensington. Hours for each station are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
