It's not about how much money Rauner has
Gov. Pat Quinn is spending millions on TV ads to inform us that Mr. Rauner is a successful, wealthy man. That is very true. May I point out that Jack Kennedy, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, former Michigan Gov. George Romney and many other wealthy, successful men performed very well in their political jobs.
The only success Gov. Quinn and our state lawmakers have attained is the ability to stay in office for decades. They enjoy being paid by the taxpayers and obtain the lucrative state pensions. Anytime bills such as "term limits" come up in Springfield they are quickly disposed of. Living off the taxpayers is their goal; they certainly do not want to go out and look for a job in the private sector.
This may be a good time to elect a successful wealthy person like Mr. Rauner who is not in the race for the money, as he has plenty of that. Illinois should not be among the worst-run states in the country.
