No charges have been filed against a 25-year-old Naperville man whose "bizarre" statements prompted a nearly five-hour standoff at a pasta manufacturing plant in Bartlett. The Arlington Heights Police Department is trying to locate a missing 11-year-old girl. A family member reported Thursday at 12:15 p.m. that Sydney Ayala was missing. She was last seen Thursday on the 100 block of North Lincoln Lane in Arlington Heights. Full story.
Chicago to host 2015 NFL draft
The NFL draft is returning to Chicago. Hours after the Bears posted an announcement on their Twitter account, the NFL confirmed the draft will move to Chicago on April 30-May 2. It will be held Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University. The last draft held in Chicago was in 1964. Full story.
Man charged after reports of gun at Elgin wastewater plant
The lead operator of a wastewater treatment plant in Elgin was charged with aggravated assault and disorderly conduct after police responded Wednesday to a call about a gunman and possible hostage situation, authorities said. A warrant for the arrest of Craig W. Spohr, 44, of the 200 block of Elm Street in Waterman, was issued Thursday, Elgin police Cmdr. Glenn Theriault said. Both are misdemeanor charges. Full story.
Elgin man charged with child abduction
A 32-year-old Elgin man was charged with child abduction after he made sexual advances toward one of three children he lured into his home, police said. Alfredo Herrera, of the 800 block of Nancy Ann Lane, appeared Thursday in Cook County bond court, where his bail was set at $225,000, Elgin police Cmdr. Glenn Theriault said in a news release. Planes carrying Ebola patient were later in Chicago
The planes that carried a passenger later diagnosed with Ebola were in Chicago days after dropping him off, according to a report by ABC 7's Chuck Goudie. On his way back from Liberia, Thomas Eric Duncan flew on a United Boeing 777 from Brussels, Belgium, to Washington Dulles International Airport. He then took a United Airbus 320 from Dulles to Dallas. Full story.
Carol Stream man accused of burglary
Carol Stream police said they arrested a 23-year-old man Thursday after he stole a watch and a computer tablet. Liban M. Mohamed, of the 600 block of Gundersen Drive in Carol Stream, was charged with two counts of residential burglary and one count of aggravated resisting arrest. Full story.
