Girls volleyball: Fox Valley roundup Saturday, Sept. 6

Huntley wins at New Trier: Ally Dion had 32 kills and Kelsey DeWulf dished out 64 assists to lead the Red Raiders to the championship of the New Trier Invite. Huntley defeated Glenbrook South, Wheeling and Niles West, then dropped Warren 25-15, 23-25 and 25-21 in the championship match. The Raiders did lose to Oak Park-River Forest in three games in pool play on Friday. Haley Arnieri (21 digs) and Erin Erb (23 kills, 12 aces) also contributed to the title for Huntley (6-1).

At West Aurora: South Elgin and Streamwood each had a tough day at the West Aurora tournament. The Storm went 1-3-1 for the tournament and Streamwood was 0-5. South Elgin defeated Evergreen Park and split with Sycamore but lost to Plainfield East, Plainfield South and Romeoville. Katie Innis (11 kills, 18 digs, 3 aces), Renee Rush (12 kills, 14 digs, 4 aces, 22 assists), Alyssa Miner (8 kills) and Casie Swanson (21 assists) led the Storm (1-5-1) for the tournament. Streamwood lost to Glenbard South, Genoa-Kingston, Plainfield South, Evergreen Park and Bartlett.
