Where is outrage over local violence?

While the world was concentrating on the death of Michael Brown from Ferguson, Missouri, I wonder where the outrage is over the more than 214 shot and killed so far in 2014 in Chicago.

Every victim is somebody's child. As of Aug. 13, from Chicago Crime & Murder Stats: Shot and killed - 214; Shot and wounded - 1,320; Total homicides - 251.
