Kaneland District 302 names interim superintendent

At a special meeting on Tuesday of the Board of Education, Kaneland School District announced that Dr. Renee Goier will serve as interim superintendent for the district.

Goier will fill the position while the board undergoes a comprehensive search for a permanent replacement.

In its search for an interim candidate, the Kaneland School District 302 Board of Education reached out to several organizations and individuals, meeting with five potential superintendents. The Board selected Dr. Goier based on her extensive experience, professional leadership and student-centered decision making.

"Of all of our candidates, Dr. Goier's perspective and experience, throughout every level of her K-12 career, is by far the deepest. Dr. Goier has exceptional administrative skills. She is well-versed and skillfully applies her knowledge in the areas of curriculum, student assessment, finance, human resources, law, policy, and collective bargaining," said Kaneland Board President Cheryl Krauspe.

Goier's perspective is a result of her work in various levels of public education: teacher, gifted coordinator, middle and elementary school principal and assistant superintendent. Most recently, she served as Superintendent of Schools for Deerfield Public Schools District 109. In that role, she improved district collaboration and efficiency, increased professional learning opportunities for teachers, and reorganized administrative structure and human resource practices. Among other professional achievements as Superintendent, Goier improved teacher evaluation methods and raised expectations to positively impact student learning, strategically integrated technology across the curriculum, and improved aging facilities while maintaining a balanced budget.

Additionally, she held multiple leadership roles, serving as President of several professional organizations, including Lake County Superintendents, Illinois Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD) and Northern Illinois Superintendents Roundtable and Study Group, as well as Membership Chair of Suburban School Superintendents. A renowned mentor, Dr. Goier has been praised for her personable and professional approach to leadership.

"She is known for her interpersonal and communication skills and her principal mentorship. She consistently contributes to national, state, and local professional organizations. Her decision-making is logical and based upon what is best for students. This combination of knowledge and application resulted in her school districts being recognized for their innovative programs, excellent student achievement and financial soundness," noted Krauspe.

Dr. Goier will begin in the District this week, spending several days visiting schools and meeting members of the Kaneland learning community. A resident of Sugar Grove with a vested interest in the success of Kaneland schools, Goier will join district administrators and staff in ensuring that all Kaneland students receive an exceptional education and graduate college, career and community ready.
