Boomers blast ThunderBolts 16-1

The Schaumburg Boomers' bats were certainly booming Saturday to the tune of a franchise-record 25 hits and a 16-1 pounding of the host Windy City ThunderBolts in Midwest League action at Crestwood. The Boomers (58-34), who have scored 34 runs on 44 hits in the first two games of the series, extended their franchise-record winning streak to 10 games.

Justin Vasquez matched a team record with 5 hits and drove in 4 runs as the Boomers scored in seven different innings. Gerard Hall contributed 4 hits, Mark Nelson and Ty Nelson also had 4 RBI apiece.

The Boomers conclude their series today at 5:05 p.m. when they send right-hander Seth Webster (7-4, 3.13 ERA) against righty Eli Anderson (1-8, 6.86).
