Schaumburg to open fur-tastic Dog Park!
It's a great place to relax after a ruff day. Or perhaps your pooch is getting a little husky and needs to get out more.
Paws for a moment and consider…areas for large and small dogs, an agility course, gazebo, drinking fountain for dogs and people, and even a swimming pond with pier - all available when the Schaumburg Park District opens its fur-tastic K-9 Dog Park, presented by Golf Rose Animal Hospital.
It's enough to make even the most pampered pooch feel they had landed in their most far-fetched doggy dreams.
Puns aside, the 6.5 acre park is located at 120 Remington Road (at the crossroads of Remington and Wilkening roads, formerly Copley Park) and will open Oct. 1.
Use of the park is open to dogs (and owners) with a registered membership. Resident registration begins Sept. 4 at the Community Recreation Center, 505 N. Springinsguth Road, in Schaumburg. Membership in the park is limited to the first 500 dogs. Owners are permitted to register a maximum of four dogs.
In-person registration is mandatory, and is not available online, by phone, or mail. Owners must provide proof of current vaccinations for rabies, distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parainfluenza and parvovirus. Owners will be issued a key ring tag that will provide electronic access to the park, and each dog will be issued a tag for its collar.

A sample registration form is included for reference. Official forms will be filled out in-person at time of registration.
Membership is $60 for the first dog, and $10 for each additional dog. If memberships remain available, non-resident registration will begin Oct. 1, and is $110 for the first dog and $20 per additional dog. An additional $10 card fee is payable at time of registration.
