Island Lake committee meets:

Island Lake's fire and police commission will meet Friday to appoint a new chairman. The previous chairwoman, Donna O'Malley, resigned from the panel. O'Malley had led the three-member panel, which oversees police department hirings and related matters, since last year. In her emailed resignation, dated July 25, O'Malley cited concerns she was "being perceived as not being objective." The meeting is set for 3 p.m. at village hall, 3720 Greenleaf Ave.
