Schaumburg adding two new eateries, Starbucks

A new Asian cuisine restaurant, an Egg Harbor Cafe and a Starbucks with a drive-through will soon join Schaumburg's existing array of eateries.

Schaumburg trustees Tuesday approved the three new businesses at two locations in the village.

Arriving first will be Family House Restaurant, which will replace the Curry Inn at 35 W. Schaumburg Road in the Town Square shopping center.

Schaumburg Economic Development Manager Matt Frank said Family House Restaurant will serve a variety of Asian dishes, centered more on the Chinese part of the spectrum than its predecessor.

Curry Inn has been closed for more than six months, and planned site renovations for the new restaurant are limited enough that a September opening is anticipated, Frank said.

The new Egg Harbor Cafe and Starbucks will be part of the renovation of the former Bally's site, just west of Woodfield Mall at 1020 N. Meacham Road. The restaurants are expected to open next spring.

Egg Harbor Cafe is a chain specializing in breakfast and lunch, typically closing for the day in the early afternoon. The adjacent Starbucks, being located in the high-traffic commercial area around Woodfield, will include a drive-through.

Plans for the redeveloping the former Bally's site include another restaurant, but a tenant hasn't yet been named.
