Join in Fox Valley Holistic Health Celebration Aug. 24

Interested in acupuncture or do you want to try Thai yoga or reflexology? Or would you just like to learn more about holistic health and organic products and services?

Find all that and more at the Fox Valley Holistic Health Celebration on Sunday, Aug. 24, outside at Soup to Nuts Alternative Grocery, 716 W. State St., Geneva. The event is free and runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., featuring more than 70 area exhibitors offering a wide variety of holistic, organic and environmentally safe products and services.

At the Fox Valley Holistic Health Celebration, visitors will find information about aromatherapy and essential oils, holistic parenting, the slow food movement, reiki and massage, green cleaning, yoga and martial arts, even holistic pet care.

There will be free raffles and giveaways, including stylish tote bags stuffed with coupons, samples and offers for the first 300 visitors.

Many new local exhibitors have joined the event, including Honeybee Wellness chiropractic and acupuncture, Intermission Therapies (counseling), Energy Mathematics, Eye on Health Iridology, Crystal Life Technology, Charm Card Creations, Visiting Angels, Conscious Community magazine, Alphay, and Peaceful Parlour, as well as many returning favorites.

Now in its sixth year, the event has grown, however its mission remains unchanged: To provide the community with a variety of holistic health practitioners and services in one location.

"Our intention is to increase awareness of the holistic options to living a happy and healthy life, even in these chaotic times," said JR Carmany, founder of the holistic health fair and owner of Soup to Nuts.

It's also a free opportunity for visitors to "meet and learn from the many talented healers and providers in our local community," she added.

Free and discounted services such as ionizing foot baths, reflexology, chair massage, Thai massage, reiki and animal totem readings are a great way for visitors to get a hands-on experience at the health fair, Carmany said.

The event starts at 10 a.m. with a Buddhist blessing.
