O'Malley quits commission:

Former Island Lake trustee Donna O'Malley has resigned from the village's fire and police commission, village documents released to the media Tuesday revealed. O'Malley had led the three-member commission, which oversees police department hirings and related issues, since last year. In her emailed resignation, which was dated July 25, O'Malley cited concerns that she was "being perceived as not being objective." The village board on Thursday will consider naming former trustee Tom Martin to replace O'Malley on the commission. The board meeting is set for 7:30 p.m. at village hall, 3720 Greenleaf Ave.
