Spellman's Scorecard: What's not to like about Trestman?

The more I watch and listen to Marc Trestman, the more I'm loving the guy.

He just seems so genuine.

Did you see him the other day apologizing to the media for moving up a practice because of potentially dangerous weather in the area?

Who does that??

He must be a joy to cover.

And …:

Trestman's not a tough-guy coach, just a guy who is absolutely comfortable in his own skin, and it seems like his players are digging him big time.

With Trestman and Phil Emery, it's like the adults are finally running the show at Halas Hall.

But, having said that:

If the Bears fail to make the playoffs this year and beyond, none of that will even remotely matter.

Booth review:

It's Tim Ryan and Johnny Morris on the call of Friday night's game, right?

What?

Been there, done that:

What Bears fans will go through Friday night in the second half trying to figure out who these players are and where they fit in is exactly what Cubs fans have been going through for the last four years.

The one and only:

Trestman's polar opposite - Da Coach - will be feted Saturday afternoon before the fifth race at Arlington International on what will be proclaimed as Mike Ditka Day in Arlington Heights.

Seriously:

Isn't every day Mike Ditka Day?

The guy can simply do no wrong.

Hard to figure:

Is Rory McIlroy just toying with the rest of the field at the PGA Championship, or is this gonna be as exciting of a tournament as it's setting up to be?

I'm going with the latter, though I think somehow, some way, Rory will finish the weekend with his second straight major.

I'll still be rooting for Rickie or Jason Day, however.

BTW:

Joost Luiten finished his opening round Thursday at Valhalla at 3-under and right in the hunt.

Anyone else see the name Joost Luiten and think of the song "Queen of Hearts?"

Preconceived notions:

When the email arrived announcing a new video featuring Wildcats coaches Pat Fitzgerald and Chris Collins driving around the city and chatting, ala that Channel 11 show, I was like, yeah, no thanks.

Then I watched it and … gotta say, it was pretty good.

Kudos NU.

Question:

Does anyone really go into an auto-repair shop and exchange engine sounds with a mechanic for 15 seconds?

Judgment day:

I'd like to speak knowledgeably about the NCAA ruling that was handed down Thursday that gives the biggest conferences mega power, but first they need to dumb it down for me, because on first blush it really doesn't sound like too good of an idea.

Reality show:

When Kevin Love to the Cavs was talk, it was like, yeah, whatever, the Bulls can give them a good fight.

But now that it's a reality, it's more like, eh, this could be trouble.

Gonna need a bigger boat:

Forget about either of the Sharknados, nothing beats the video this week of that great white attacking an underwater camera.

Awesome stuff.

And finally:

And I mean finally, how nice is it that the Cubs are watchable again?
