Two men charged in Arlington Heights, Mount Prospect burglaries

Two men faces charges stemming from a series of burglaries in Arlington Heights and Mount Prospect last month.

Steven Brown, 25, of Arlington Heights, was charged with residential burglary and ordered held on $50,000 bond Friday. Jeremy Driscoll, 26, of Chicago, was charged with residential burglary and possession of a controlled substance and was ordered held on $60,000 bond Friday.

Cook County Judge Jill Cerone Marisie also ordered the men to stay away from the complaining witnesses and their residences, said Cook County Assistant State's Attorney David Shin.

Prosecutors accuse the pair of burglarizing two homes in Arlington Heights: one on Bristol Lane on July 5 and another on Burton Place on July 7.

Sin said the pair burglarized a home July 14 on Hatlen Avenue in Mount Prospect. They also are accused of burglarizing a home July 18 on Verde Drive and July 24 on Bonita Avenue, both in Mount Prospect.

Stolen items included credit cards, electronics and jewelry, which police recovered from the defendants' apartments, Shin said. Police located the defendants by tracing the activity on the stolen credit cards, Shin said.

Driscoll's background includes a 2008 conviction for possession of cannabis and a 2006 conviction for theft. Brown has no criminal background, Shin said.

They next appear in court on Aug. 22.
