Elburn library wraps 'Paws to Read' summer program Friday

Town and Country Public Library, 320 E. North St., Elburn, will host its annual Summer Reading Grand Finale from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8. This evening marks the culmination of the library's "Paws to Read" Summer Reading program. Bring a friend. Everyone is welcome. Library volunteers will serve Ream's National Grand Champion Beef Wieners, Paisano's pizza, chips and water.

A Zoo to You petting zoo will bring goats, sheep, a donkey, a llama, ducks, bunnies and chicks. Children and adults can pet and feed them. Stop by the Sparkles Entertainment booth. They will paint a design on your face or arm.

Truly Remarkable Loon returns to the library to perform his "Read Books and Juggle Everything Else" comedy juggling show. This is an outdoor performance, so bring a lawn chair or blanket. Visit www.trloon.com/library/index.html.

The next show is indoors. Chris McBrien and his zany puppet friends will entertain you with his "Wild and Wacky Pet Show" at 6 p.m. Chris will mix magic and storytelling while his puppets Dewey Duck, George the Giant, and others will amaze you with their antics. Visit www.magicstoryteller.biz/.

Unscheduled Tour will appear for the first time at 7 p.m. at the library. Unscheduled Tour features Audry Buchanan, Rich Cardia and Greg Torrence, three friends who will play your favorite rock, country and blues from the 1950s through the 80s. This will be an under-the-sky performance. Visit www.facebook.com/UnscheduledTour.

Clifford, the big red dog, a favorite children's book character, will visit the library again at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 8. Children will hear stories about Clifford's many adventures.

As with previous book character visits sponsored by Barnes & Noble of Geneva, there will be time after the program for kids to hug Clifford and for parents to take pictures. This story time is open to all children in the Fox Valley.
