Dogs get carnival all their own in Palatine
All across the suburbs this month hometown festivals offered seemingly something for everyone, from well-known bands for music lover and carnival rides for thrill-seekers, to games and activities for kids and booths featuring fare from some of the area's favorite eateries for foodies.
On Thursday, it was the dogs' turn for fun.
"We have a dog loving community in Palatine. The dogs love it and so do people," said Lisa Schroeder, special interest coordinator for the carnival.
It featured such events for dogs as Paw Painting, a fan favorite, dog face-painting and, of course, bobbin' for weenies.
The Palatine Park District held its annual Canine Carnival at the Fred P. Hall Amphitheater, 262 E. Palatine Road, Palatine.
The event featured games and activities for the dogs, raffles, complimentary souvenir photos for dog owners and their canine companions, and more.
This year's gold level sponsors included Daily Herald Media Group, A Closer Bond Dog School, American Chartered Bank, Bentley's Corner Barkery, Hoffman Estates Animal Hospital, Jewel-Osco, Jimminy Clippers & Kitty City, Kriser's - For Your Pet's All-Natural Life, Loving Care Animal Hospital, Puppy Love Pet Care, Inc., Tailchasers Incorporated, and Unleashed by Petco.
