Attorney general talks scams at Elgin roundtable
Attorney General Lisa Madigan and her staff discussed how to identify and avoid major consumer scams, including identity theft and home repair fraud, as well as schemes that target seniors.
The occasion was a round-table discussion Wednesday at the Centre of Elgin.
Representatives of the Elgin, West Dundee, Geneva, Carpentersville, South Elgin and St. Charles police departments attended, as did officials from Poplar Creek Library, Elgin Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, Elgin Township Triad, CASA Kane County, Elgin Community College, Centro de Informacion, Spring Hill Elementary School, Roselle United Methodist Church, Hanover Township Senior Center, Administer Justice, Latino Treatment Center, Pearl Health Care Services and the Downtown Neighborhood Association of Elgin.
The Attorney General's office holds these round-tables throughout the suburbs, including one in May in Des Plaines.
