Splash over to Schaumburg Park District to celebrate Aquatics Appreciation Week
Dive into Aquatics Appreciation Week with splash-tastic activities throughout the District including Wild, Wild West, pirates, tropical themes and more!
The free activities will be held at multiple Schaumburg Park District locations from 1 to 4 p.m., July 14 to 18.
• July 14- Become a pirate at Volkening Lake. Canoes, paddle boats and kayaks are available for rent. There will be free treats for children and rental fees are $10 per hour or $5 per half-hour.
• July 15- Tropical Tuesday at the Water Works. The pool will be transformed into a luau paradise where children will enjoy free themed games and treat. Daily use fee for youth is $5 for residents and $7 for non-residents. Daily use fee for adults is $7 for residents and $9 for non-residents.
• July 16- Become a cowboy or cowgirl at Meineke Pool. This event will feature free treats and games for children. Daily use fee for youth is $4 for residents and $5 for non-residents. Daily use fee for adults is $5 for residents and $6 for non-residents.
• July 17- Tropical Treasure Thursday at Atcher Island. There will be free games and treats for children. Daily use fee for youth is $5 for residents and $7 for non-residents. Daily use fee for adults is $7 for residents and $9 for non-residents.
-The party at Atcher Island and Park will continue from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at a summer picnic. Families will enjoy a moon bounce, carnival games, face painting, music and barbecue. Admission is $2. Food will be available for purchase. Cost is $3 for a hot dog or brat, chips and a drink.
• July 18- Bock Disco Day at Bock Pool. Children will chill out with groovy games and funky fun. Daily use fee for youth is $4 for residents and $5 for non-residents. Daily use fee for adults is $5 for residents and $6 for non-residents.
"The kids absolutely love the pirate day at Volkening Lake," said Assistant Aquatics Supervisor Stacy Johnson. "They go on a huge treasure hunt with a treasure map and even have a pirate sword fight. It's one of my favorites too!"
