Schaumburg fire blamed on lightning strike

Schaumburg firefighters quickly extinguished a fire at a single-family home on the 500 block of East Weathersfield Way that reportedly was sparked by a lightning strike at 1:45 a.m. Thursday.

No residents of the home or firefighters were injured. Information was not immediately available Thursday on the extent of the damage or whether the home remains habitable.
