Local Allstate Agency Owner Heads to Capitol Hill

Allstate agency owners and employees from across the country, including local Allstate Agency Owner Chuck Suda, traveled to Washington, D.C. recently as part of an effort to help educate lawmakers about issues affecting the insurance industry, consumers and small businesses. Suda met with local elected officials to highlight Allstate's public policy priorities.

"We met with members of Congress including Illinois Senator Mark Kirk, Congressman and Chief Deputy Whip Peter Roskam and Congressman Mike Quigley. They were very receptive and listened to our perspectives on many issues important to our industry, such as taxes on life insurance."

Agency owners and employees discussed a variety of topics with lawmakers, including after-market auto repair reform, a modernized insurance regulatory system and the need to preserve the financial and retirement security of millions of Americans.

Specific issues included:

•PARTS Act: Encouraging competition and consumer choice in the after-market auto parts industry that could save consumers $1.5 billion.

•Insurance Regulatory Modernization: Supporting the Federal Insurance Office's efforts to establish uniform and consistent regulatory standards.

•Tax Reform: Preserving Americans' ability to achieve financial and retirement security through tax incentives that encourage saving and investing.
