Storms expected to hit Chicagoland move south
Heavy rain and severe weather expected Wednesday morning has shifted and moved south of the city, officials from the National Weather Service said Wednesday. Now, light showers are being forecast through noon, with cooler weather moving in after the rain moves on.
Meteorologist Charles Mott of the National Weather Service said there is a 50 percent chance of showers through the morning, then turning mostly clear with temperatures hovering around 50 degrees this evening.
He said damage is already being reported from thunderstorms in southern Illinois due to the storms that were forecast to hit the northern and western counties surrounding Chicago yesterday.
He said hail and wind damage are being reported in various areas closer to the National Weather Service office in Lincoln, Illinois.
