Glen Ellyn park board approves change to workweek
Changes to the workweek for Glen Ellyn Park District employees will provide more flexibility in scheduling and give supervisors more time to approve and submit payroll requests, officials said.
The park board on Tuesday agreed to have the workweek start Saturday and end Friday.
The week previously started at 12:01 a.m. Sunday and ended at midnight Saturday.
The change will make it easier for supervisors in the event staff members work “unexpected hours” on weekends, according to documents distributed at the park board meeting.
“Due to some constraints, whether with our antiquated time clock system or personnel constraints as far as getting payroll processed in time, our payroll period between departments varied a little bit and wasn't always consistent,” said Nicholas Cinquegrani, the park district's superintendent of finance and personnel.
With new accounting software in place and a proposal for new time clocks, Cinquegrani said, it was the right time.
“This was a golden opportunity to review this and to see if there was any changes that we'd like to make to … be more consistent throughout the park district and throughout the departments, but then also possibly look at some cost savings possibilities in respect to overtime compensation.”
