Northbrook Theatre Announces Auditions
Attention, actors! The Northbrook Theatre for Young Audiences will hold non-Equity auditions on Wednesday, May 28 from 10am-2pm at the Northbrook Theatre, 3323 Walters Avenue in Northbrook. Actors can audition for the 2014-2015 season, designed for children and family audiences. The Theatre, managed by the Northbrook Park District, will present three entertaining musicals, based on children's books: "How I Became a Pirate," "A Year with Frog and Toad," and "Busytown."
Auditions are open to men and women. They should prepare a monologue appropriate for Theatre for Young Audiences and 16 bars of a musical theatre song and bring sheet music in the appropriate key; an accompanist will be provided. Actors also should bring a headshot and resume.
Equity auditions are on Monday, May 19 from 10am-3pm. Non-equity performers will be seen after equity performer appointments on May 19 or during non-equity auditions on May 28 from 10am-2pm. The Northbrook Theatre is inside the Leisure Center.
Rehearsals begin on September 30 for "How I Became a Pirate," directed by Peter Vamvakas; the show runs from October 18-November 22. "A Year with Frog and Toad," directed by Lydia Milman Schmidt, begins rehearsals on January 6 and runs from January 25-February 28. "Busytown," directed by Peter Vamvakas, begins rehearsals on March 10 and runs from March 28-May 2.
