Dad faces DUI in crash that killed 4-year-old

A 4-year-old Romeoville boy was killed and two siblings critically injured early Sunday morning in a single-vehicle crash authorities say will lead to driving under the influence charges against his father.

Illinois State Police said Sunday charges of aggravated driving under the influence are pending against the boy's 29-year-old father, also of Romeoville, stemming from the 2:03 a.m. rollover crash on southbound Interstate 55 near Joliet Road in Bolingbrook.

Taylor Dyer, 4, was ejected from his father's 2012 Dodge Journey and pronounced dead at the scene at 3:40 a.m., according to the Will County Coroner's office. His two brothers, ages 2 and 7, were taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where they were listed in critical condition Sunday, state police Sgt. Scott Angus said.

Their father, who is not yet being identified, was taken to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove. He will be taken into police custody when he is well enough to leave the hospital, Angus said.

The circumstances of the crash remains under investigation, police said.
