Carpentersville man guilty of sexual abuse, faces 7 years
A 37-year-old Carpentersville man faces up to seven years in prison after being convicted Thursday of sexually abusing a child he knew from July 2012 to May 2013.
Eduardo Hernandez-Flores of the 100 block of Golfview Lane, will be sentenced July 24 by Judge Karen Simpson.
He also must register as a sex offender for life. Probation is an option in sentencing.
Simpson convicted Hernandez-Flores in a bench trial.
Prosecutors argued Hernandez-Flores fondled a child younger than 13 multiple times and tried to force the child to do the same to him.
He has been held at the Kane County jail since his arrest in May 2013 and his bond was revoked upon conviction.
"This young victim showed tremendous courage and bravery in coming forward to tell her story, not only to investigators but also to the court," Kane County State's Attorney Joe McMahon said.
