Visiting Barrington scored twice in the third and twice in the sixth, and their pitchers did the rest as the Broncos earned a 4-0 victory over New Trier on Saturday in nonconference baseball.

Richie Stefan allowed 2 hits over 5⅓ scoreless innings, and Jake Zyzda was perfect over 1⅔ innings to earn a save.

Jake Petersen drove in a run with a sacrifice, and Mitch Pfeiffer, Shane Yorton and Dan Kubiuk accounted for Barrington's 3 hits.

St. Viator splits with Nazareth: The host Lions outhit their guests 8-7 but came up short 4-3 despite a 2-run rally in the bottom of the seventh inning in the second game of an East Suburban Catholic Conference doubleheader.

Matt Prazuch, Ben Dickey and Pete Meyer had 2 hits apiece for the Lions (15-5).

Bobby Calmeyn pitched all 7 innings for St. Viator; 3 of the runs he allowed were earned.

The first game was more to St. Viator's liking as the Lions got 2 hits apiece from Prazuch, Dickey, Joe McCollum and Jack Napoleon in a 6-3 victory.

George Burny pitched 4⅓ innings and got the win, and Mike Piet allowed 1 hit over 2⅓ scoreless inning to earn a save.

Buffalo Grove 13, Waukegan 3 (5 inn.): The Bison banged out 13 hits and stole 5 bases to pick up a nonconference victory in 5 innings.

Nate D'Onofrio finished 2-for-3 with a double, triple and steal for Buffalo Grove. Other multiple-hit days came from Andrew Cole, Jeremy Firszt, and Mike Kleczynski (3-for-4, RBI).

Brendon Murphy tossed all 5 innings to get the win for BG. He allowed 6 hits and struck out two.

Palatine 11, Rockford Boylan 1: The Pirates jumped all over the visitors with a 10-run first inning and cruised to a 5-inning nonconference triumph.

Nolan Gavin finished 2-for-3 with 3 RBI and 2 runs scored for Palatine. Chris Macahon, Brad Bauer and Nick Orlando also had a pair of hits each.

Winning pitcher Patrick Seeberger struck out three in his 4 innings, and Dan Ryan pitched a scoreless inning for the Pirates (12-10).

Maine South 5, Elk Grove 2: The visiting Hawks did all their scoring in the first two innings, as did the Grens in a nonconference loss.

Daryl Rivera had 2 hits for Elk Grove and also pitched 2 scoreless and hitless innings in relief.

Brandon Post doubled and had 2 hits for the Grens (12-5), and Austin Shallcross added a double.

Glenbrook South 7, Prospect 1: Mike Piotrowski delivered a 2-for-3 effort with a double and an RBI, but the Knights (11-6-1) couldn't keep pace with the Titans' run production in a nonconference loss.

Stevenson 10, Rolling Meadows 5: The host Mustangs committed 7 errors and three pitchers allowed a total of 8 walks as Meadows suffered a nonconference loss.

Willie Bourbon went 3-for-3 for the Patriots, who had 8 hits, and Joe Olker got the victory.

Alex Niecikowski went 2-for-4 with a triple and 3 RBI, and Sean O'Brien had a pair of hits for Rolling Meadows (8-8).

Wheeling splits: The Wildcats dropped a 9-1 decision to Northridge Prep in the first game, but bounced back in the second as a Nathan Cooney had a pair of doubles in a 4-3 final.
