Lodge of Antioch damaged by fire
A fire Saturday morning damaged the Lodge of Antioch pub, 899 Main St., Antioch.
No one was injured.
The business remained closed Saturday afternoon, as fire officials investigated the cause.
The fire was reported at 10:51 a.m., according to Antioch Fire Department Deputy Chief Chris Lienhardt. The pub was open for business, as it serves breakfast on weekends.
The fire appears to have originated above the kitchen, Lienhardt said. When firefighters arrived, smoke was coming out of a second-story roof. Smoke also went into third-story apartments, he said.
The building dates back to the early 1900s, he said, and does not have fire-suppression sprinklers. The roof was heavily damaged, because firefighters had to remove several layers of roofing materials and its substructure to make sure fire had not spread in to void spaces in the roof, Lienhardt said.
A damage estimate has not been determined as of Saturday afternoon.
The owners of the business could not be reached for comment.
