Night of Jazz May 22nd at Wheeling High School

Special professional guest performers Jim Pugh and Glenn Wilson will highlight the Wheeling High School Bands Night of Jazz Concert. Distinguished trombonist, composer, and educator Jim Pugh will be touring with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band Steely Dan this Summer and is currently on faculty at University of Illinois in Champaign. Jim is recipient of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences Virtuoso Award. He is also known for extensive work for film scores, records, and music for advertising in TV and radio.

Glenn Wilson is also from the faculty of U of I, and noted baritone saxophone player. Glenn has toured and recorded with Buddy Rich, Tito Puente and Bruce Hornsbey among other artists. He has appeared on 27 albums, including 6 solo recordings, and featured in both the Gramophone Guide and Penguin Guide to Good Jazz.

Also performing will be the up and coming young musicians of WHS Jazz Band II and the premier ensemble WHS Jazz Band I who are scheduled to perform in European festival tour this Summer.
