Bartlett library welcomes 'Friends' group to meeting

The Bartlett Public Library welcomes members of its Friends organization to attend a 3 p.m. meeting Sunday, April 27, at the library, 800 S. Bartlett Road.

This date will serve as an opportunity to hold the quarterly meeting, as well as a reception to thank members of the Friends for their contribution of funds and talent. New members are encouraged to attend the April 27 meeting for an overview of the Friends organization and to learn how the services and programs the group provides have impacted library patrons.

Since its inception in 1983, the Friends have donated more than $130,000 to the library and have assisted in providing quality services and programs to the community.

The Friends participate in a number of activities and fundraisers during the year, including coordinating the Perpetual Book Sale in the lobby of the library; scheduling and planning for Fravinia outdoor concerts; and providing volunteers who aid in the library's mission to meet the needs of the community.

In addition, every child who receives a new library card is treated to a new book as a result of their generosity.

Any person interested in supporting the library is encouraged to join the Friends. Organizations, clubs, and businesses are also welcome with annual dues starting at only $5 for an individual.

The dues, along with all the money raised throughout the year, go directly to benefit the library. The Friends have contributed resources to help fund various initiatives, including the Hot Reads program, computers, furniture and equipment and online homework help, and the library would not be able to offer the variety of programs and materials to the community without their support.

For information, stop in the library, contact Mary Bavido at (630) 213-5014 or visit www.bartlettlibrary.org and select "Support."

The Bartlett Public Library District provides programs and services to meet the needs of the community. The library is at 800 S. Bartlett Road. For information and a complete listing of scheduled programs, call (630) 837-2855 or visit www.bartlettlibrary.org.
