Elk Grove H.S. science students earn recognition
The Elk Grove High School Advanced Placement Environmental Science students were recognized by the Cook County Forest Preserve Board for collecting comprehensive data about the water quality of Salt Creek.
After accepting the data, the board filed it with other water quality data.
All 40 AP Environmental Science students attended the board meeting, which was held at the Cook County Building. Senior Ethan Hartowicz, who addressed the board during the meeting, commented on the experience.
"Completing relevant lab work to generate data that is used by the board is motivating for us. Also, seeing how the board operates was an interesting experience."
In addition, students completed an individual comprehensive report on the data that was collected from Salt Creek, which is located behind Elk Grove High School near the dam in Busse Woods.
