Engineer shows kids how to have fun with science during Lake Villa library program
Engineer Steve Belliveau of Bartlett entertained a packed house using science demonstrations Wednesday at the Lake Villa District Library.
Nearly 100 children and parents spent part of their spring break vacation watching the "Getting Excited About Science" program and learning scientific principles in a humorous way from Belliveau.
"I try to spark their interest," Belliveau explained as he handled an electromagnet. "I try to do things that are not obvious and in a lighthearted manner. Children also learn by doing and I direct them to the science section of the library."
Children participated in the show as they learned about static electricity, gyroscopes, electromagnets and creating artificial snow.
