Cary residents charged in Waukegan armed robberies

Waukegan police said Thursday they have arrested and charged two Cary residents in connection with armed robberies that occurred last week.

Police said on March 11, S&D Mini Mart, on the 1100 block of Greenwood Avenue, was robbed of $100, and the next day, Supermercado Zapopan, on the 2000 block of Washington Street, was robbed of $300. In both robberies, an unmasked suspect used a handgun to rob store clerks of the cash, then fled in a blue Ford Mustang convertible, according to a news release.

Waukegan patrol officers spotted the suspected vehicle Monday in the area of Grand Avenue and McAree Road, and arrested the driver, Cordelle Miller, 25, of the 400 block of Crest Drive in Cary. The next day, police interviewed and later arrested his wife, Jessica Miller, 28, who authorities say was involved in the first robbery.

Cordelle Miller was charged with two counts of armed robbery, and Jessica Miller was charged with one count of armed robbery. Both were being held at the Lake County jail in lieu of $100,000 bond. Both suspects are due in court April 16.
