Schaumburg to get second Chick-fil-A in 2014
Q: What's better than a Chick-fil-A restaurant in your town?
A: Two Chick-fil-A restaurants in your town.
Schaumburg trustees this week approved a second Chick-fil-A to be located on the former site of Zippy's, 90 N. Barrington Road.
The village's first Chick-fil-A at 935 E. Golf Road - a short distance west of Woodfield Mall - opened in September 2011.
Schaumburg Community Development Director Julie Fitzgerald said the two locations are certainly far enough apart to not be competing with one another.
"It's definitely a different market in the far west end of the village," she said of the newly approved location.
Like other Chick-fil-As, the new location will be in its specially constructed building on the site of the former Zippy's. Though an exact construction timetable is not known, Fitzgerald said it's expected the eatery will open during 2014.
