Employees would rather 'rally' with raises
As a retiree, I find that shopping when a store opens on a weekday is just the ticket ... or so I thought. Many of the stores have "associate" rallies before things get going. The employees, young and old, are required to gather around the store manager and pretend to get psyched up by chants, slogans and forced cheers. How degrading.
I have a novel idea. How about giving them all a 50-cent raise and forego the charade aimed at improving employee morale. An employee smile rooted by a fair salary might be just the ticket. If this demeaning practice is the brainchild of corporate office bigshots, they clearly are not the sharpest knives in the drawer.
